ROWING HEARTBREAK
The Rowing events, usually so successful for Team GB, have been a real source of heartbreak so far at Tokyo 2020.
As reported earlier Emily Craig and Imogen Grant missed out on a medal by 0.01secs in the lightweight women’s double sculls, and Helen Glover could make it three Olympic golds in three consecutive games after a fourth placed finish in the Women’s doubles with Polly Swann.
It means Team GB have finished an agonising fourth in five rowing events, with the only medal so far being a silver in the men’s quadruple sculls.
Team GB were the leading rowing nation at Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 but so far have not enjoyed their usual success on the water.
