He accuses them of failing President Yoweri Museveni by sleeping on their jobs.

Appearing on ‘TMO online Television’ YouTube channel on Friday, Mirundi said that President Museveni’s agendas are always good and are meant to benefit Ugandans but most of his ministers and MPs are too sleepy and dormant to properly execute his ideas.

“First of all, most of these MPs buy votes to be elected, they dont campaign. So they come into Parliament heavily indebted and when they are appointed as ministers they only think of how to repay their debtors. Secondly, many of his ministers are amateurs who were peasants but because the constitution requires him to appoint ministers, he chooses from those present. For example, there was a minister of Kampala but she was a former councillor in Mubende. You can not appoint a councillor in Mubende to be a minister in charge of Kampala,” the veteran journalist said.

“That is why we have ministers and MPs who can not explain a matter at the floor of Parliament. NRM has many MPs who did not make their maiden speeches in five years because they don’t know. In future, we shall need a Parliament that shall analyze all the laws which these past parliaments have passed because when it comes to debating its only MPs on the opposition who are very articulate. Although NRM has a two-thirds majority, most of them cannot stand and talk. They are just peasants who can only say ‘yes’, “he said.

Mirundi added that the ability and strength of Parliament always come from the opposition because it has intelligent and credible MPs.

“That is why even debating on the matter concerning their party, President Museveni will need a caucus to brief them on what to speak. They are dumb.”

]]> UACE 2020: Why most candidates failed Economics, Entrepreneurship https://www.watchdoguganda.com/news/20210820/119669/uace-2020-why-most-candidates-failed-economics-entrepreneurship.html Fri, 20 Aug 2021 14:26:29 +0000 https://www.watchdoguganda.com/?p=119669 The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has released the 2020 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exam results.

Releasing the results on Friday at State House Nakasero, the UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo said a total of 98,392 candidates registered for the 2020 UACE examination from 1,952 Centres.

“At least 41.1 percent females did the exams. The female candidature is much lower than the males. The numbers of candidates have been fluctuating over the years, but more and more students are registering are staying in school and undertaking the exams,” Odongo said.

He also revealed that the female candidates outshined their male counterparts in the exams.

He however noted that the number of students who failed Economics, Entrepreneurship Education and Agriculture was high. Odongo noted that in the examinations, candidates showed lack of knowledge especially in economics where students were too green on in the vital concepts of Taxation and the Stock market.

“There is evidence that many teachers are either also deficient in these areas, or do not teach the topics due to inadequate syllabus coverage. And in general English literature to understand questions is still lacking. That is candidates who scored grades A and B demonstrated high levels of knowledge of the subject matter and were able to handle tasks that required high order skills. Their work in the practical examination papers also showed the ability to manipulate apparatus, ability to record observations correctly reflecting the accuracy level of the instruments used, and ability to manipulate the data generated correctly,” he said.

Odongo also noted that although last year’s performance in sciences has been fair, there is also evidence of teaching theoretically with very little practical experience given to the candidates.

“As a result, candidates who performed poorly showed an inability to follow instructions and procedures during the practical examinations, failure to accurately record data or even make meaning of any of the data recorded.”

Odongo further disclosed that most of the candidates had difficulty in writing correct chemical symbols and balanced equations in Chemistry.

“Whereas the skill of dissection is essential in Biology, many candidates did not carry out this task on the specimens provided as required by the questions but proceeded to make drawings crammed from textbooks. This is evidence that teachers in the schools where this happened did not expose the candidates to this very essential skill that will be required in future biological science-based courses.”

Odonga Otto over the moon as Court throws rival Komakech out parliament  https://www.watchdoguganda.com/news/20210820/119659/im-becoming-mp-again-odonga-otto-over-the-moon-as-court-throws-rival-komakech-out-parliament.html Fri, 20 Aug 2021 12:08:33 +0000 https://www.watchdoguganda.com/?p=119659 The High in Gulu has on Friday thrown newly elected Aruu County Member of Parliament Dr Christopher Komakech out Parliament.

After losing his Aruu County seat in the 2021 general elections, Odonga Otto in February, filed an election petition against Komakech saying that he did not officially resign from his civil service job before joining Parliament.

Komakech has been kicked out of the August House on grounds that before joining elective politics, he addressed his resignation letter to the wrong person ( Executive Director Butabika Mental Hospital) instead of Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health or Ministry of Public Service as per the public service standing order.

Now, Court has ordered for fresh elections and no costs have been awarded.

Following the development, Otto who couldn’t hide his excitement said he is ready to return to Parliament.

“After going through :Harassment during campaigns, detaining my car for 90 days, remand to gulu to prison, going to nairobi hospital after poison..Justice ASIMWE TADEO nullifies Aruu elections.I see Gods hands through him.I am all in tears,” Otto tweeted.

They change and fine-tune the cities, players and the fans regardless of the countries they’re situated in, teams they play for and support respectively.

Those were the last words of Aloysius Ssebulime, the head coach of Buddu United Soccer Academy as he was smiling off to the cameras during the Sports gala event that saw his team losing 4-2 against Kyabakuza junior team in Masaka City last weekend.

The whole affair of the sports gala was a learning and mentorship curve to many sports fanatics in Masaka City since grass root football is drastically struggling to regain its past glory.

Buddu United Soccer Academy was formed with the obligation of tapping young talented players within Masaka City as well as creating unity through sports within the region.

“Football has always been subject of matter in Masaka City but grass root football remains a factor in making,” shared Ssebulime who has lived up to serve grass root football in Masaka for the last five years.

Ssebulime has lived up to mentor teenage players within; Kirimya United, Mbuye High School and Hoys Secondary School to mention but a few.

Among the players that Ssebulime will heavily rely on to ensure that Buddu team propels to greater heights remains Masaka City based teenagers.

Henry Sserugunda, 22-years-old also SC Vipers ardent supporter converted the second goal that saw Buddu United Soccer Academy emerging second among the six teams that competed in the opening gala celebrations for his side.

“I played for St Joseph â€"Nkoni and St Kizito Technical Kitovu as well as Maroons-Junior team,” shared a beaming Sserugunda who also has high hopes to play professional football with coach George Best Nsimbe and also the former Cranes goal talisman David Obua.

According to coach Ssebulime, he will mostly rely on players; Fahad Ssebandeke (Midfielder), Silver Tumuhirwe (Midfielder), Joseph Lukwago, Ssuuna Hamiddu and goalie Gonzaga Matovu also an ardent Arsenal Football Club supporter.

Buddu Soccer Academy is apparently  based in Kyabakuza Trading Centre in Masaka City and its struggling with sports kits and financial assistance according to Hassan Mugerwa, the team’s director.

]]> I’m a proud Muganda and I can’t apologize over it! Bobi Wine tells off Museveni after accusing him of tribalism https://www.watchdoguganda.com/news/20210820/119636/im-a-proud-muganda-and-i-cant-apologize-over-it-bobi-wine-tells-off-museveni-after-accusing-him-of-tribalism.html Fri, 20 Aug 2021 09:49:05 +0000 https://www.watchdoguganda.com/?p=119636 Former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said President Yoweri Museveni is trying to blackmail him as a promoter of tribalism yet in actual sense he is the master of sectarianism.

During an interview on BBS TV on Wednesday, Bobi Wine said being a proud Muganda does not mean that he is sectarian.

“Do you know my wife? Is she a Muganda? Nubian Li is not a Muganda, my producer Dan Magic is also not a Muganda, is Lubongoya a Muganda? No. But can you mention anybody who is not from the western region in fatty positions like URA, NSSF and URA? In fact, Museveni is the father of sectarianism in the entire East Africa? I find it less important for him to keep using tribal sentiments to fight us. Last time he called us terrorists because we were putting on red garments and speaking the truth,” the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader said.

“In the army, most top ranking officers are from the same region. Currently, in some offices, Runyankore is the most spoken language than English even in the Army. We who are against tribalism are too bad than he who practices. He uses this to fight me so that I can feel shy of my tribe, but that is not going to work. I’m a proud Muganda man and I cannot apologize for it.”

It should be recalled that last weekend while addressing the nation on security issues, President Museveni portrayed Bobi Wine’s NUP party as a new Kabaka Yekka (KY) outfit aimed at promoting divisionism and terrorism.

“The NRM, FRONASA, NRA and UPDF have never thrown stones to any group of Ugandans in search of legitimate interest either in the past or the present. The only ones that faced our fire were those defending or promoting illegitimate interests, denying people free elections like the present NUP which is an attempt resurrection of KY with the likes of Amin trying to divide Ugandans along tribal or religious lines,” said Museveni.
